What is OpenAI?
OpenAI is an AI research and deployment company that has developed advanced AI models capable of understanding and generating text, images, and more mostly known for their application "ChatGPT". It aims to ensure that artificial general intelligence (AGI) benefits all of humanity. OpenAI's models, such as GPT-4, are known for their ability to perform a wide range of tasks, from language translation and summarization to content generation and question answering.
What is an API Key?
An API (Application Programming Interface) key is a unique identifier used to authenticate and interact with an API. It acts like a password, allowing you to access the API's functionalities and manage its usage. In the context of OpenAI, an API key gives you access to their AI models, enabling you to integrate these models into your applications, such as conversational AI bots like our bot "PRObot"
1. Start by visiting OpenAI
https://platform.openai.com/ and click "Login" or "Sign-Up
2. Create a free account
3. Once your account is created Click on API…
4. Go to "API keys"
5. Click on Create new secret key
6. (Optional) Name your key if you'd like for your reference. e.x (ProBot)
7. Click on Create secret key
8. Copy this key and paste it into your bot settings
Note: Keep this key in a safe place and never share it with anyone outside of our organization. We will never ask for this key again. If for some reason we need it, we will request it be sent directly to us through our platform
IMPORTANT: Keep following along - your key is not active yet
9. Then go to Setting >> Billing
10. Click on Add to credit balance
11. Add a balance between $5-$10 and make sure auto billing is on.
AI is very cheap to run. $10 can sometimes last months depending on volume. Our team also has access to a Microsoft startup fund of $2,500 that you can apply for here.
